And this is Luna!  Rescued by Ward Assistant Lydia, Luna has been part of the family since she was 12 weeks old.  As a chocolate brown with patches of light caramel she really is a cute guinea pig.  Just as piggies should, the majority of her diet is made up of seasonal hay and grass.  These sources of fibre are very important for our guinea pigs, not only for their continually growing teeth but for gut and overall health.

Luna has just lost her friend and Lydia is about to rehome a second guinea pig after a slow introduction.  Initial meetings have been really promising.  Companionship is a key part of guinea pig welfare and ownership and is one of the main focuses of this years National Guinea Pig week.
