Heli Hounds raise £1000s for Essex Air Ambulance! On Sunday over 360 dogs put their paws to a good cause this weekend - enjoying a spring walk around the Marks Hall Estate to raise funds for Essex Air Ambulance.
We had a great day meeting all the Heli Dogs, there was even a good show of blue skies!  It gave us the opportunity to check all the dogs' microchips and discuss adequate tick protection.  Our first aid provision was only needed twice which isn't bad at all, given a record 364 dogs!

In a statement from the Essex Air Ambulance, thanks was given to all those who sponsored the event, volunteered or came along to take part in the day.

Special Guests, BBC Essex ‘Mrs & Mr’ Sadie Nine and Al, with their dog Tiger Lily, led walkers on the stroll from the Essex Air Ambulance’s Charity HQ in Earls Colne around the Marks Hall Estate – with a paw stop at Marks Hall Visitor Centre.

Sadie said: “We love a country walk and Marks Hall grounds and scenery are lovely. It was an amazing turn-out - everyone has been so friendly and the dogs have been so good. It’s nice to be able to something you really enjoy and know you are doing good at the same time. It’s such a great cause and though we hope we never have to use it we’re so thrilled that the Air Ambulance is there.”

Sponsors Bubbles Pet Parlour, NFU Mutual, Millennium Vets, iFL International Food link, David Watson Transport and O’Donovan Waste Disposal.

The Dog Trust had a busy day and provided 37 dogs with free microchipping, just in time for the micro-chipping law change in April 2016. Woofs n Wiggles offered a fun agility course and Millennium Vets were on hand to advise dog owners on pet healthcare.

Jen Wall, Events Manager, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust said: “We’ve been overwhelmed with such a great response from dog walkers across Essex. The event has already raised£4,903.87. “Thank you to everyone who joined us on the day, to Sadie Nine for lending us her fantastic support, and also to our wonderful volunteers who gave up their time to help ensure the event ran smoothly. Our sponsors from the county’s business community have been vital – Bubbles Pet Parlour, NFU Mutual, Millennium Vets, iFL International Food link, David Watson Transport and O’Donovan Waste Disposal – and supporters – BBC Essex, St John Ambulance and Pets at Home.”

We'll be looking forward to next year, a very important charity event indeed!
