Registered Veterinary Nurse

Nursing Experience: I joined the practice back in December 1999, after spending the previous year working for the RSPCA. Prior to that all my working life had been in offices dealing with accounts, unit trusts and things that didn’t interest me. Having loved animals it was great to finally have the opportunity to work in an environment that cares for and treats animals! I qualified in April 2003, and have since completed several courses on animal behaviour in which I have a keen interest. Now only working part time due to outside commitments I spend most of my time in the practice laboratory dealing with the running of blood samples, examining samples under the microscope, sending away various samples for testing and analysis. I am also involved in nurse consultations twice a week, which I thoroughly enjoy, and do my bit on reception once a week too! Also helping out with anaesthetics and general nursing as and when necessary. A varied role which I love!

Interests: Dog behaviour is one of my main interests and I would love to do more courses on this as and when time permits.

Activities: Outside of work my love is showing and breeding Rottweilers a passion which has been going on for over eleven years now. My husband and I travel all of the country to exhibit our dogs, at championship show level and have had some great successes. I started judging the breed a few years ago and have completed several seminars on this. Our travels now take us abroad to watch European shows in search of the top stud dogs to incorporate into our breeding program, and to hopefully widen the UK gene pool. We have a son and he will be hard for him to grow up without a love of animals!
