David Garrett
Veterinary Surgeon and Director

Veterinary Experience: I was born and raised in Northumberland, trained at Bristol Vet School and came to work in Essex in 1983. Starting as a newly-qualified veterinary surgeon with Mssrs.Farrow and Bayer in Coggeshall Road, I became a partner in 1988. With the retirement of my original partners and the arrival of first Paul, then Robin and later Stefaan, we have seen the practice grow together. The original 3-man mixed practice has grown to become a dedicated companion animal health centre with a staff of 50, including 10 vets.

Interests: My particular clinical interests include ophthalmology, medical and surgical conditions of the ear, and skin disease. I also have an interest in treating reptiles of all sorts, with other occasional rarities, including ostriches, rheas, earthworms and a seahorse!

Activities: I met my wife Fay at veterinary college and we have 4 children. We seem to spend much of our spare time either transporting or watching our two younger sons playing ice hockey! We share our home with 3 Labradors,2 tortoises and a corn snake called Nigel. Besides my work, I enjoy driving, country walking, classical music and mountains. The Western Isles of Scotland are a favourite holiday destination.
