Our team of vets, nurses, ward staff, receptionists, admin and cleaning staff make who we are.  Even if we don't have any vacancies for the role you think you are suited to, we would still like to know more about you!  We welcome pre-recorded video messages, please send this to us with your CV, to admin@millenniumvets.co.uk

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse

Would you like to join our nursing team here at Millennium?  Positions have become available for 2 motivated RVNs to join our happy team of 13 registered nurses, 3 students and 3 ward assistants.   We are expanding our vet team so we need more nurses!  We pride ourselves as being a friendly, supportive, approachable and very caring team and invite RVNs of all abilities to apply.

Established in 1966, we are a fully equipped first opinion and referral independent practice with 10 veterinary surgeons and a large support team - as well as the nursing team!  We are internally supported by Mental Health First Aiders, HR reps for our different staff groups and offer personal coaching sessions where needed.

Our nurses are heavily involved in all areas of the practice: from our wards and theatres to nurse consulting and diagnostic work.  Our referral work covers dermatology, oncology, orthopaedics, poultry medicine and soft tissue. Our CT scanner, electrochemotherapy, companion regenerative therapy and nurse led laser and phovia treatments are just some of the additional services MVP offers.  This means that our nurses are multi-skilled and very much part of our general practice provision - shifts being split between wards and theatre / diagnostics.  We also have a strong consulting team so consulting is on the agenda too.  Patients are mainly dogs / cats / rabbits and guinea pigs with some poultry and small mammals.  We see the occasional exotic for our existing clients, but we are not an exotics practice.  Oh yes! And we are a very pro-wildlife practice! Just ask us about hedgehogs!!

We encourage our RVNs to explore and develop their areas of interest and fund CPD.  At present our RVN team have further qualifications in ECC, feline nursing, nutrition, behaviour and exotics.  We are also a VN Training Practice and have a team of clinical supervisors supporting our Diploma and Degree placement students.

These are full-time positions with only 1:11 weekends (with lunch provided!), and only 1 bank holiday cover every 2 years (yes, 2 years!).  We use VetsNow for OOHs from 8pm-8am on week days and at the weekend 6pm through until Monday at 8am.  As a result, the work load on a Sunday or Bank Holidays is minimal. Once you have finished your weekend – Monday is then your day off.  Rest, recouperation and a good work-life balance is important for the team!

Note: we do provide 24 hour care for our patients when needed.  If you need to work an overnight stay then you are automatically given the next day off.  At MVP continuity of care is vital and we don't believe in moving patients to another practice for overnight care - all part of providing a high standard of veterinary care.

Depending on candidates', full time hours can be worked as a 4 day week.  A competitive annual salary is dependent on experience, starting salary £27,000 - £30,000.  Additional benefits include: RCVS registration, VDS and BVNA membership fees, 8% employers pension contribution and £400 + 15 hours paid CPD .  (CPD allowance may be more if a skills need is identified.)

What’s more we are in Braintree, Essex!
The practice itself is less than ½ mile from Freeport Outlet Shopping Village, Braintree Retail Park and Braintree Fitness and Swimming Centre.
We have very easy access to the surrounding area being on the Norwich to London Liverpool Trainline, with 2 train stations in Braintree. Braintree is equally placed between the cities of Colchester and Chelmsford, both ½ an hour away.  The A12 and A120 are on our door step and within easy reach of the M11 and M25.  Stansted Airport is only 20 minutes away.
We are close to the Chelmsford City Racecourse and Hylands (which means festivals galore including the V-Festival and Clockstock!) and if you are a cricket fan then Chelmsford is the home of the Essex County Cricket Club.  We’re also lucky enough to have good primary and secondary schools, local colleges, Writtle University College and both Chelmsford and Colchester Universities close by.

You can find out more about us on our website, by following us on Facebook and even better come an meet us all and have a tour of our practice!
