Orthopaedics and Soft Tissue Referral Service
Orthopaedics
Our orthopaedic service offers extensive experience in the investigation and management of challenging lameness cases and complex surgical procedures. We manage a wide range of conditions including:
- Fracture repair using internal and external fixation techniques
- Arthrodesis surgery for joint stabilization
- Minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures for joint disorders such as elbow dysplasia
- Cruciate ligament repair, including Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) or traditional techniques, tailored to the individual patient
Soft Tissue Surgery and BOAS
We accept referrals for BOAS assessment and surgery, as well as complex soft tissue procedures including:
- Perineal surgery
- Surgical oncology
- Skin flaps and reconstructive procedures
- Urinary tract surgery
Our approach combines advanced surgical techniques with comprehensive perioperative care, supported by in-house imaging (radiography, ultrasonography, CT) and an experienced nursing team.
Clinicians
- Lindsey Nice – RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (2011), RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Orthopaedics. Lindsey is also recognised by the Kennel Club as the East of England assessor for the Respiratory Function Grading Scheme, and is available for BOAS assessments and surgical referrals.
- Tina Dutta – European GP Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (2012), RCVS Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Small Animal Surgery (2013). Tina has extensive experience in complex soft tissue surgery, including reconstructive and oncological procedures.
- Shaun Smith – BVetMed CertSAS MRCVS, with advanced experience in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ENT procedures, BOAS surgery, laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, and advanced diagnostic imaging. Shaun supports both orthopaedic and soft tissue referrals.
Together, Lindsey, Tina, and Shaun provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, ensuring your referred patients benefit from expert assessment, surgical planning, and follow-up care.
